Update AirPods Pro & Max with New Firmware that Improves Search Experience
Apple AirPods release new firmware . Those models with the W1 or H1 chip can be upgraded to the new version. Specifically, the AirPods 2, AirPods Pro , AirPods Max, and various Beats headphone models. For some models it has meant joining the Search network.
New firmware version 4A400 for AirPods
Apple headphones have just been updated. Its firmware, which controls the most basic of its operation , has reached a new version . These are the versions of the different models that have been updated:
- AirPods 2: 4A400.
- AirPods Pro: 4A400.
- AirPods Max: 4A400.
- Powerbeats 4: 4A394.
- Powerbeats Pro: 4A394.
- Beats Solo Pro: 4A394.
There is no clear process or button with which we can automatically install the new firmware. The only thing we can do is have the headphones close by and connect them to the iPhone. In this way, we make sure that they are connected and that the update can be done.
It’s also a good idea to leave them charging in their case while they’re within range of the iPhone. You can check its firmware version from Settings> Bluetooth and pressing the “i” symbol on the AirPods model you have connected.
Search improvement for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max
Getting the AirPods updated is not easy. As there is no specific button or process, the user is left at the expense of luck . In any case, your AirPods should update in the next few days if they haven’t already.
With this firmware update, Apple has added new Find Features for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. This leaves out the AirPods 2 and of course the original AirPods. Now and according to this support document , in Apple’s two most advanced headphone models, we will be able to:
- See the location.
- Use search nearby.
- Play a sound.
- Activate lost mode.
- Notify you when they meet.
- Notify you when you walk away from them.
The search near function is an improvement over reproducing sound. But, unlike the AirTag , it does not indicate its exact location with an arrow . This user has already been able to test the method, which is more of a hot-cold approach.
We must remember that the AirTag has an ultra-broadband U1 chip that allows it to be located very precisely . As current AirPods lack this component, it is not possible to find them using the arrow system. That is why it is speculated that the AirPods 3 yet to be revealed will incorporate this chip that will improve their location.
